Ronald J. Ignelzi, M.D.

Ronald J. Ignelzi, M.D.Dr. Ron Ignelzi is a neurological surgeon who has worked in the VA over 30 years. Retired from the NAVY, with 26 years of service, he is also a VA patient.  He held an appointment at UCSD School of Medicine and continues teaching medical students.  Dr. Ignelzi has served for over 25 years on many research panels in the VA, NIH, Department of Defense, and as a Medical Advisor to the Secretary of the Navy.

He attended the University of Notre Dame, Creighton, and Northwestern Universities.  He is a member of the San Diego Academy of Neurosurgery, San Diego Neurology Society, and American Neurosurgical Society.

Dr. Ignelzi’s Community involvement has included being a STANDOWN medical volunteer, serving on Board of Canine Companions for Independence, San Diego Opera and Symphony docent, NASA Ambassador, and a Eucharistic extraordinary minister for the sick at home or nursing home bound. An avid bridge player, Dr. Ignalzi also serves on the La Jolla Unit Board.
