Rosemarie Marshall Johnson, M.D. – Co-Founder, PAVE
Dr. Johnson received her B.A. degree from Mount Holyoke College and her M.D. from the Georgetown University where she completed her Residency in Anesthesiology. Dr. Johnson practiced anesthesiology in San Diego until her retirement. She has held teaching appointments at Georgetown, Walter Reed Army Hospital, Scripps Mercy Hospital and the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Johnson has held senior leadership positions at the local, state and national levels in Medicine and Anesthesiology, which include serving as President of both The San Diego County Medical Society and The California Society of Anesthesiologists.
Throughout her professional career, Healthcare Advocacy has been a passion of Dr. Johnson’s, including Border Health with appointment to the US-Mexico Border Health Commission by both presidents Clinton and Bush. Medical care for the uninsured, women’s health, smoking cessation, child automobile restraint seats and now improved military veteran healthcare are among the many issues for which she has advocated. She is a co-founder, along with Harvey Shapiro, M.D., of Physician Advocates for Veterans and is the Medical Community Liaison of The San Diego County Medical Society Foundation.
